Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Ps. 51:7
The colon or large intestine is primarily responsible for two main functions:
The health of the colon is dependent primarily upon three factors: (1) existence of a slightly acidic pH (2) maintenance of a predominantly acidophilus colon flora
and (3) regular elimination.
When the colon is at a slightly acidic pH of 5.7 to 5.9, this vital living part of our immune system is as nature intended for optimum health. Factors which affect colon flora are: antibiotics and other drugs, diet, stress, and exposure to microorganisms in food and the environment, along with the constitution and health of the individual are all major factors in determining the condition and population of colon flora.
Chronic constipation and diarrhea are often eliminated when the colon is restored and maintained at a slightly acidic pH. The presence of a putrefactive alkaline producing flora may be indicated by a dry, dark brown and solidly formed feces, having a putrid odor, as well as by one that is semi-fluid. Partially digested food and mucus may appear in the stool. A somewhat rare occurrence, is a fatty stool that floats, indicating an abnormal condition.
A stool that floats in water, is soft but firm and amber color with little or no odor is a sign of a healthy colon flora.
The following simple natural remedy can help aid in regular elimination.
2 Tbsp. Ground Flaxseed
1 Tbsp. Slippery Elm Powder
1 Tbsp. Granulated Lecithin
8 Prunes
2 cups Prune Juice
Blend all the above and take 1 cup a day.
